Nerja Medical Center offers prostate cancer screening using a PSA Test.

Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men.

Prostate cancer usually develops slowly; the symptoms often do not show for many years.  The chances of developing prostate cancers gets greater the older you get, most cases develop in men that are 50 and older.

Common symptoms of prostate cancer could include:

  • Difficulty starting urination.
  • Weak or interrupted flow of urine.
  • Frequent urination, especially at night.
  • Difficulty emptying the bladder completely.
  • Pain or burning during urination.
  • Blood in the urine or semen.

The PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is an excellent way to screen for prostate cancer.

The PSA is measured using a blood sample, normally taken from the arm.

Results in around 24h.
